OASE BioMaster 2 350 vs Thermo 350: Heater, Specs & Fit

The OASE BioMaster 2 350 and BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 use the same filter platform and share the same documented aquarium envelope, max-flow label, head height, filter volume, pre-filter volume and cabinet dimensions. The practical difference is the heater bundle: the Thermo 350 includes a HeatUp 200, while the standard BioMaster 2 350 does not. PetGearReport has not physically tested either filter or heater, measured installed flow, timed heating, measured noise or observed long-term reliability.

What we like

  • Current standard model is SKU 94710
  • Same up-to-90-gallon filter envelope as Thermo 350
  • EasyClean pre-filter and 5.6 L filter volume
  • HeatUp heater can be retrofitted later if appropriate
  • Lets you choose a separate heater instead of accepting the bundled 200W model

What we don't

  • HeatUp 200 is not included
  • A separate heater may add visible in-tank equipment
  • Filter sizing still does not determine heater sizing
OASE BioMaster 2 350 Canister Filter

OASE identifies the standard BioMaster 2 350 as SKU 94710. The current US page documents suitability up to 90 gallons / 350 L, 295 GPH under Max. gallons per hour, 4.6 ft maximum head, 5.6 L filter volume, 0.50 L pre-filter volume and dimensions of 9.4 x 9.4 x 16.7 inches. The EasyClean pre-filter removes separately from the main filter. OASE also documents that a HeatUp heater can be retrofitted if required, but a heater is not included with the standard BioMaster 2 350. Product identity evidence checked September 24, 2026: B0F3LPPPHH matched OASE BioMaster 2 350; the current OASE US model is SKU 94710, without freezing current Amazon price or availability. These are manufacturer and marketplace facts, not PetGearReport hands-on results.

Choose the standard BioMaster 2 350 when you want the same filtration platform without committing to the included 200W heater bundle.

#2Best when HeatUp 200 is the right heater

OASE BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 Canister Filter

Best for: Setups where the BioMaster 2 350 filtration platform fits and OASE's included HeatUp 200 is also an appropriate heater for the actual heating requirement

9Score

What we like

  • Current Thermo model is SKU 94686
  • HeatUp 200 is included with the Thermo 350
  • Same documented filtration envelope and EasyClean architecture
  • Integrated-heater design can remove a separate heater from the display
  • Current HeatUp 200 is a 200W adjustable heater

What we don't

  • Bundled HeatUp 200 is documented for aquariums up to 55 gallons, not the filter's full 90-gallon envelope
  • Thermo 350 is not a higher-capacity filter
  • Heater suitability still depends on aquarium volume, temperature rise and environment
OASE BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 Canister Filter

OASE identifies the BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 as SKU 94686 and says the HeatUp 200 adjustable heater is included. The filter platform remains a 350 L / roughly 90-gallon-class BioMaster 2 350 with 1135 L/h max flow, 1.40 m maximum head, 5.6 L filter volume, 0.50 L pre-filter volume and a 240 x 240 x 425 mm body. The included heater is HeatUp 200, SKU 33804. OASE's current US HeatUp 200 page specifies 200W, a 66°F–90°F adjustment range and suitability up to 55 gallons / 200 L. That heater rating is separate from the filter's 90-gallon filtration envelope. Product identity evidence checked September 24, 2026: B0F3LRD8KK matched OASE BioMaster 2 Thermo 350; the current OASE US model is SKU 94686, without freezing current Amazon price or availability. These are documented specifications, not a PetGearReport heating or filtration test.

Choose the Thermo 350 when you specifically want the integrated HeatUp 200 and have independently confirmed that 200W is appropriate for the aquarium's heating requirement.

Buying guide

Treat this as a heater-bundle decision, not a filter-performance upgrade. Both products use the same filter platform. Choose the standard BioMaster 2 350 when you already have a suitable heater, need a different heater size or want flexibility. Choose Thermo 350 only when the included HeatUp 200 is appropriate for the aquarium's actual heating requirement. Filter sizing and heater sizing are separate decisions.

How we researched and scored

PetGearReport has not physically tested the OASE BioMaster 2 350, BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 or HeatUp 200, measured installed water flow, timed aquarium heating, measured sound, tested thermostat accuracy or observed long-term durability. We compared current OASE product documentation, exact SKU identity, filter specifications, EasyClean architecture, heater inclusion, HeatUp 200 specifications, cabinet dimensions, current public product-identity evidence and relevant installation trade-offs. Amazon pricing, temporary availability, customer-star ratings and popularity were not scoring inputs.

The displayed 1–10 number is a PetGearReport research score, rounded from the same five weighted categories for both options:

Option Filter fit / specs 25% Heating decision 25% Maintenance 20% Installation 15% Docs / support 15% Weighted result Published score
BioMaster 2 350 9 9 10 9 9 9.20 9/10
BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 9 9 10 10 9 9.35 9/10

Both round to 9/10 because the filtration platform is essentially the same and the real choice is heater configuration. The standard model appears first as the cleaner general default because it does not assume that a bundled 200W heater is correct for every aquarium the filter can serve. Thermo 350 becomes the better package when HeatUp 200 is independently a good fit for the heating requirement.

Quick verdict

Choose the standard BioMaster 2 350 if you already own a suitable heater, need a different heater output, prefer separate heating or simply want the same filtration platform without the bundled HeatUp 200.

Choose the BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 if you want the heater integrated into the canister system and have confirmed that the included HeatUp 200 is appropriate for the aquarium. The heater convenience is the differentiator; Thermo 350 is not a higher-capacity filter.

OASE BioMaster 2 350 vs Thermo 350 at a glance

Decision point BioMaster 2 350 BioMaster 2 Thermo 350
Current OASE SKU 94710 94686

Dimensions 9.4 x 9.4 x 16.7 in / 240 x 240 x 425 mm 240 x 240 x 425 mm; same filter body class
EasyClean pre-filter Yes Yes
HeatUp 200 Not included; OASE says HeatUp can be retrofitted Included with the Thermo 350

Heater rating Depends on selected heater 200W; OASE US page says up to 55 gallons / 200 L
Temperature adjustment Depends on selected heater HeatUp 200: 66°F–90°F

The filtration specifications are materially the same because this is the same filter platform packaged in two heater configurations. The Thermo suffix does not create extra filter capacity, extra filter volume or a larger flow rating.

Heater bundle HeatUp not included; OASE says HeatUp can be retrofitted HeatUp 200 included Thermo adds the integrated heater package

The Thermo 350 is not a higher-capacity filter. Its value is packaging the same 350-class filtration platform with HeatUp 200 already included. Choose it only when that exact heater also fits the aquarium’s heating requirement.

The real difference is the included HeatUp 200

OASE’s Thermo product page says HeatUp 200, SKU 33804, is included with the Thermo 350. The standard BioMaster 2 350 page instead says a HeatUp heater can be retrofitted if required. In other words, the standard model gives you heater choice; the Thermo bundle preselects HeatUp 200.

OASE’s current US HeatUp 200 page documents 200W, a 66°F–90°F temperature scale and suitability up to 55 gallons / 200 L. That is a heater specification, not a filter specification.

Filter sizing and heater sizing are separate decisions

The most important boundary on this page is simple: filter sizing and heater sizing are separate decisions. A 90-gallon filter envelope does not make a 200W heater suitable for every 90-gallon aquarium.

The BioMaster 2 350 filter may be appropriate for an aquarium that needs a different heater output. Heater sizing depends on the aquarium’s water volume, target temperature, ambient room temperature and the required temperature rise. Use our aquarium heater size guide to make that decision separately.

This is also why we do not call Thermo 350 the automatic upgrade. If HeatUp 200 is too small, unnecessarily large or simply not your preferred heater configuration, the standard BioMaster 2 350 can be the more rational purchase even though the Thermo package contains more hardware.

The filter platform and maintenance workflow stay the same

Both products use the BioMaster 2 350 architecture with the EasyClean pre-filter module, 5.6 L filter volume and 0.50 L pre-filter volume. OASE documents the EasyClean module as removable separately from the main filter, along with detachable aquastop and priming/service features.

That means the choice is not between a basic filtration platform and an upgraded filtration platform. It is between the same maintenance architecture with two different heater configurations.

Frequently asked questions

Is the BioMaster 2 Thermo 350 a more powerful filter than the standard 350?

No. Thermo 350 is not a higher-capacity filter. OASE documents the same 350 L filter platform, 1135 L/h max-flow figure, 1.40 m head height, 5.6 L filter volume, 0.50 L pre-filter volume and 240 x 240 x 425 mm dimensions. The Thermo bundle adds the HeatUp 200 heater.

Does the Thermo 350 include a heater?

Yes. OASE identifies HeatUp 200, SKU 33804, as included with the Thermo 350. It is not included with the standard BioMaster 2 350.

Can I use the Thermo 350 on any aquarium up to 90 gallons?

Do not infer heater suitability from the filter range. OASE rates the filter platform up to 90 gallons, while its current US HeatUp 200 page describes the 200W heater as best suited for aquariums up to 55 gallons. The required heater also depends on target temperature, room temperature and system conditions.

Can I add a heater to the standard BioMaster 2 350 later?

OASE documents the standard BioMaster 2 350 as compatible with a retrofitted HeatUp heater. Verify the exact heater model and sizing for the aquarium before adding one.
